Sometimes I Wish I Were In College Again

Save the homework, studying and exams, I sort of wish I was in college again. I might just be saying that right now because I am a bit bored here at work. As I mentioned before, my stellar administrative assistant capabilities have me caught up and continue to keep me caught up with my work. I can't really surf the web because half, if not, three quarters, of the good stuff is blocked by the hospital network (and, of course, that is not condoned at work and I would never do anything that is not condoned at work... ;) hehe).

Anywho, I make more money now but it seems like I was able to spend more of the little I made before on fun things and now all my money goes to bills (it's partly those damn loans which I wouldn't be paying yet if I were still in school). Not to mention that I seemed to have more time to just hang out and do things (this could be because I am the worst procrastinator and didn't do much until it absolutely had to be done). I also slept a lot more then or it feels like I did, even though I am in bed pretty much every night by 8:30 and usually asleep by 10:00 and I don't have to wake up until 7:30.

Alas, I do like being older, actually, although drinking three nights in a row (and I am not even talking nearly as much as I used to) like I did this last weekend is just difficult these days and I blame my age. And I am excited that many of us are getting married and having babies now. And someday, I know the money and responsibilities will even out in the end but some days I just long for the seemingly carefree days of college...and, of course, the wackos yelling on Library Mall about how we are all revelers and sinners. I guess I will just have to spend more time downtown when it gets nice out. Shouldn't be a problem...beer and sun at the Terrace...who's with me?!

The Olden Days

This is a quote from my friend Jackie's blog (she is writing about her pregnancy experiences):

It cracks me up when the doctor busts out the measuring tape. It feels so 1950's to me. I don't know why, but it just seems so not technologically advanced.

Speaking of the 1950s and not being technologically advanced, I feel the same way at the eye doctor. Can't they figure out some way to get your prescription with a computer or something? I do not feel like my abilities to discern between number 1 and number 2 (and sometimes 3 and 4) is accurate enough for something as important as my vision. There has got to be some device out there that they are just sitting on like the electric car which they had developed loads of years before they brought it to the public...Or like the Wii. You know they have or are ready to produce a much more advanced machine that can play DVDs and all that jazz but they are just holding out so they can release a new machine with new features every year to make the most money they can make. Now, granted, sometimes I want to kick technology and spit in its face, but I agree with, Jackie, can't we have something more advanced than a tape measure or huge eye glasses with flippy lenses?
Well, hello folks. So, I really wanted to introduce you more fully to my kitty and my fiance this weekend but remember how I mentioned the obsession with the show Lost in my last entry...um, yeah, watched only that during any waking hours I wasn't doing things I already had planned. Also, while we were watching Lost, I couldn't get on my computer because Mike was burning the next couple episodes onto a disk. He had it set to high priority so it burns the fastest it can burn which, unfortunately for my blog followers (a few of my girlfriends), does not really allow me to use any other application on my computer. Thus, it left me disappointing my lovely friend Mariah who commented on my last entry with "WE WANT ANOTHER POST!!!" So, although it is not exactly the post I wanted just yet, I feel the need to appease my friend and bitch about Monday for a little bit.

This is the daily quote that was sent out by storypeople.com (it was sent yesterday but it completely fitting, especially for today:

I think I'm having a heart attack, she said, but it's dragging on for hours. I told her not to worry. That's how most people who work a full day feel, I said.

Today, feels like I have had approximately 10 heart attacks and a quadruple bypass. Mondays just suck, plain and simple. I really do not believe there is anyway around it. I am, however, enjoying some delicious Lao Laan Xang (Laotian place in Madison. Also best Asian food I have ever had.) leftovers, which is making me feel a tad bit better.

Until I just remembered this (click on the picture):

While Mike and I are still number 1 in the bracket, it could get very grim if North Carolina doesn't go the distance. They are our only hope at this point. NORTH CAROLINA!! RAISE UP!

So, things could be better but there is always Lost to look forward to when the day is done.

A New Venture and a Hello

So, due to my boss being gone this week and the fact that my stellar capabilities as an administrative assistant have kept me completely caught up with my work, I have been catching up on my friends' blogs. Now just about all of them have blogs so I was feeling a bit left out and decided that I was going to give this a go. Alright, this could go like everything else in my life; that is to say, it could go one of two ways:
1) I will start this and then never keep up with it (ie: my Facebook page, which I haven't checked in about a year).
OR
2) I will become completely obsessed and will do nothing else for weeks, months on end (ie: my recent obsession with the show Lost, which Mike and I started maybe a month ago and are already halfway through the 4th season or like when I bought the Rent CD and only listened to that forever, much to the dismay of the friends who also had to hear me sing it every chance it popped into my head, which was a lot. Again, sorry guys!).

So, with that in mind, here goes:

I guess I should start with telling you a little bit about myself.
My name is Maggi and I live in Madison, WI. Fabulous city, you should really visit sometime. I live with my cat Ms. Meowmington who is the mayor of Meowmingtown (you can call her Meowmers for short) and my, recently named, and aforementioned, fiance, Mike
(he proposed this Valentine's Day). You will learn more about them later.

I work at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clincs as the administrative assistant to the Chair of the Radiology Department. I love it (and there was nothing else I could do with my History degree besides teach). I like sunsets and long walks on the beach but mainly I like booze and TV. I didn't even want to start Lost because I really simply could not add another TV show to my repertoire but it turns out I am lamer and lazier than I originally thought. Oh, and for the booze/alcohol, before you know it, I will have Johnny Depp's tattoo "Wino Forever" somewhere on my body...although mine will not be because I permanently put Winona's name on my arm and then broke up with her...I am just a plain and simple wino...forever.
