This is a quote from my friend Jackie's blog (she is writing about her pregnancy experiences):
It cracks me up when the doctor busts out the measuring tape. It feels so 1950's to me. I don't know why, but it just seems so not technologically advanced.
Speaking of the 1950s and not being technologically advanced, I feel the same way at the eye doctor. Can't they figure out some way to get your prescription with a computer or something? I do not feel like my abilities to discern between number 1 and number 2 (and sometimes 3 and 4) is accurate enough for something as important as my vision. There has got to be some device out there that they are just sitting on like the electric car which they had developed loads of years before they brought it to the public...Or like the Wii. You know they have or are ready to produce a much more advanced machine that can play DVDs and all that jazz but they are just holding out so they can release a new machine with new features every year to make the most money they can make. Now, granted, sometimes I want to kick technology and spit in its face, but I agree with, Jackie, can't we have something more advanced than a tape measure or huge eye glasses with flippy lenses?
